The Polestar 2 electric car finally available in US 2023

The battery-electric sedan has been launched exclusively in the United States with dual motors, and now the automaker is taking orders for a single-motor version. It carries the same long-range battery pack, which means no range penalty. In fact, the EPA states that the 270-mile range of the single-motor Polyester 2 outperforms the dual-motor by 21 miles.

It is no shock that two electric motors mean an additional cost on an electric car, which is reflected in the final retail price. Low motor = low price. This is exactly what is happening with Polyester 2.

As expected, the output falls at 231 hp and 243 pound-feet of torque, significantly below the 408 hp and 487 pound-feet of the dual-motor Polyester 2. The 7.0-second 0-60 power loss of a single-motor is also reflected.

Polyester finds its northern star in Stuttgart, with the exception of the powertrain, the single-motor Polyster 2 is effectively the same as its dual-motor siblings. Alternative packages like the aptly named Plus Pack are still available for tacking on a huge panoramic glass roof, and the Pilot Pack will add driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control. Vegan leather still covers seating and touchpoints and the styling remains unchanged.

The added range makes up for the decrease in power, but price is the reason to choose the single-motor version. It starts at $47,200 (including destination charges) and shaves $4,000 off the Polestar 2’s price. Of course, that number can shrink further by various tax incentives that may apply to you.
