Honda Launch Activa Electric Scooter By 2023
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India may launch ‘Activa’ electric scooter by 2023. According to Honda, the upcoming electric scooter will be ready by the next financial year
Mr. Atsushi Ogata, President of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, has revealed the news regarding Honda’s plans to launch EV space in India.
The Honda Activa is currently the best-selling scooter in India, so it makes sense to use the same name for Honda’s upcoming electric scooter. This will make it easier for customers to connect with the brand because the ‘Activa’ nameplate carries brand brand USP such reliability and performance.
However, it is not clear whether Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India will make a brand new electric scooter for the Indian market or use a slightly modified version of its existing electric scooters from the international product lineup.
Currently, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India is testing Benly electric scooters in India and the scooter has also been spotted at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
Speaking of Benly electric scooters, Honda offers 4 different models of electric scooters in Japan. These variants include Benly e: I, Benly e: I Pro, Benly e: II, and Benly e: II Pro.
Although the Benly range of electric scooters is primarily meant for last-mile delivery in both B2B and B2C segments, the powertrain and hardware can be used to power commuter-friendly electric scooters.
Since the Benly electric scooter has already gone through testing, it is safe to assume that this electric scooter will lay the foundation for the upcoming Honda ‘Activa’ electric scooter.
Also, there are other electric scooters in Honda’s international product portfolio. These include electric scooters such as Honda PCX electric, Honda Gyro e :, Honda Gyro Canopy e: and many more.
Honda Activa Thinking about electric scooters Honda has already made big plans in the EV sector and the company has recently set up a new subsidiary to make battery packs. The new subsidiary was formed with a capital of Rs 133 crore.
With the launch of the Honda ‘Activa’ electric scooter, Honda will be looking to dominate the segment.
