Ather Energy has released its 2022 sales report and the company sold 2,591 units last month. The two-wheeler maker recorded a 120 percent year-over-year increase, while monthly sales were also higher than the 2,042 units sold in February 2022.

Last month, Ather Energy also achieved a new milestone by rolling out the 25,000th 450X from the Hosur-based facility. The company has announced a partnership with India FIH to meet the growing demand for Ather 450X and 450 Plus scooters.

In many ICE vehicles the performance is directly proportional to the throttle inputs, as well as the EV. Now, the Ather 450X runs an advanced battery management system designed to deliver optimal performance without interrupting the range. And we’re glad to report that Ather provides the claimed numbers, 5-10km to give or take.

In the real world, scooters run between 75-80km in eco mode and about 60-70km in ride mode. And, also with a mix of medium to heavy throttle inputs. That being said, what’s admirable is that despite opening the throttle in Sport or Warp mode, the remaining range is not more than 10 percent of the range claimed to drop. So, in an ideal situation, you can get anywhere between 50-55km in Sport mode and about 40-45km in Warp mode. And yes, we’ve been able to get out more than we sometimes claim, but only if you are very careful about the throttle and you are in no hurry to get to the destination.

Ather 450X charging :

The Ather 450X offers three charging options – two home / office charging solutions and a public charging station. The first two are the slow charging option and the latter is the fast charging grade. These include a bundled portable charger, an optional Athar dot charger for home / office and an Athar grid fast charger.

Portable Charger – Portable Charger and Athar Dot are basically slow chargers that take about three and a half hours to charge from 0-80% and another two hours trickle charge for the remaining 81-100%. After connecting the supplied 3-pin socket the former can be plugged into a 15A socket or any 5A three-pin socket.

Ather Dot –

The Ather Dot is an optional home / office charger that can be purchased at an additional cost of Rs 5,475 and with installation (Rs 1800). It is designed for customers who have a designated parking space in the housing complex or office premises. This is a fixed plug-and-play wall-mounted unit that eliminates the need to carry a portable charger if you want to charge at home or in the office.

And finally, you have a 7kWh Ather Grid Fast Charger. It is a network of fast chargers that are strategically placed around the city so that your Ather’s juice does not run out. Ather claims 0-100% charge time is less than one and half hours. However, there is a little catch here, which we will discuss a little later in this report.

Now, after using the EV for over 1000 kilometers, we can safely say that in 95 percent of the usage, it would be better if you charge the 450X at a slower speed with the bundled portable charger. This is only when you encounter an emergency where you run out of juice or if you plan to take the scooter to a place where you know you will not have the option to charge for the return journey, you never need an Ather Grid fast charger. And like modern smartphones, Ather only recommends using the fast charging option during emergencies, as frequent use can jeopardize battery health in the long run.

We must test the charging time of Athar Grid Fast Chargers. Here it is assumed that if you charge the scooter at either Ather Space or Ather Go dealership, you will quickly get the full 7kWh output of the charger and the scooter will be charged in the claimed one hour 25 minutes.
