Do you think all the buzz around the first generation Tesla Roadster introduced by Tesla in 2008? It was the first battery electric vehicle (BEV) to use lithium-ion battery cells and reach more than 320 kilometers on a single charge.
Not to mention that this production car was the first to go deep into space. But knowing Elon Musk and his love for the stage, no one was really surprised at Roadster’s development.
Originally, Tesla put a spotlight on the Roadstar brand and opened the door to the EV market for it. Roadstar showed how EVs can actually look all smooth and sporty and even surpass conventional combustion vehicles without emissions. But Tesla soon switched to a more cost-effective alternative and paused testing with Roadstar.

Tesla Roadster :
The original Tesla Roadstar puts the all-electric automaker on the map, even if most Model S and Model X buyers don’t remember it. Originally scheduled for its return in 2021, the new model has not yet hit the market, leading us to believe that it has been delayed.
The second-generation Roadstar makes its predecessor better by adding two smaller rear seats, significantly more driving range, and much more performance. Tesla CEO Elon Musk boasted a 1.9-second 60-mph time and a 250-mph top speed when the Roadstar concept was unveiled again in 2017 – statistics we hope this sports car will prove to be accurate when it finally arrives.

Tesla Roadster Design :
For now, Roadstar is merely an idea, and in general, ideas vary greatly during their development in production models. As shown, the Roadstar concept has a removable glass-panel roof, which you can put in the trunk. It has four seats, but the rear one may not be suitable for adults because of the roadster’s dramatically angled roof line. Other than that, we hope to see a repetition of Tesla’s signature minimalist interior design here.
But the only reason to want to pre-order the 2023 Tesla Roadster is not having great glasses. This car promises modern, smooth styling both externally and internally.
Look at the front of the roadster in the picture above. Every line and curve of the car is smooth and satisfactory. The design with a long wheelbase, a fine nose, and an extra fender is immediately recognizable from previous generations, but the new Roadster brings a removable glass roof for a more rounded look and improved driving performance.
Tesla Roadste Performance :
When the new Tesla Roadstar was unveiled as a concept in November 2017, Musk cited some pie-in-the-sky performance numbers for the car, including a 60-mph time of 1.9 seconds, a top speed of over 250 mph, and only 8.8 seconds is a quarter of a mile. It’s offensive. For reference,
if that 60-mph time is taken, it would mean that the Roadstar is a full second faster than its main rival, the petrol-powered McLaren 570S. Also during this conference, Musk mentioned that the Roadstar will come with standard all-wheel drive. It’s less amazing.
Tesla’s mainstream EV models use two electric motors to drive four wheels — one on the front and one on the rear, so this means we want to see the same setup for the roadster.

Tesla Roadster Range :
The 200-kWh battery offers a range of up to 620 miles, but of course, this number will only be achievable under very light use; Hitting the track for some flat-out hot laps will cut that guess enough.
Tesla Roadster features :
In the concept design, a large touchscreen extends from the top of the dash to the center console, with a QUBE at the bottom for storage. None of the vehicles in the Tesla lineup offer services like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Amazon Alexa compatibility and we don’t expect to replace that with Roadstar.
In fact, if the infotainment system in the Model 3 sedan is any indication of what we’ll see on the roadster, buyers shouldn’t expect to find AM Radio or SiriusXM in this car. We think it will probably provide Tesla with a host of onboard Wi-Fi hotspots, Spotify integration, and visual entertainment apps like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube to keep drivers entertained while parking and charging.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features :
Since the Roadster is still only a concept, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have not had the chance to perform crash tests. We expect Tesla will offer all its latest and greatest driver-assistance technology on the Roadster, including its famous Autopilot semi-autonomous driving system. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage :
We anticipate the Roadster will offer the same standard warranty package as the rest of Tesla’s lineup, which includes an eight-year warranty on the car’s electric motors and battery pack. Unlike rivals such as the Audi R8 or the Jaguar F-type, the Tesla is not likely to come with a complimentary scheduled maintenance plan.
