The Volkswagen ID.4 is vw’s first bespoke electric car sold here in the us, and it’s remarkably good in nearly every respect.
The Car-shopping website Cars recently published a list of its best EVs, with a Volkswagen at the top of its list for the best price. This is none other than the Volkswagen ID. 4, a reasonably priced crossover that we call a “serious competitor” in the EV market. If you are interested in what this car has achieved at the top of the best price list, read on. We’ve got a detailed cover.
As more electric vehicles enter the market, automakers will need to upgrade their existing products to stay competitive. Take the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 as a perfect example; It arrived last year as a 2021 model but has already been improved with a 20-mile range increase through an over-the-air software update. But with that range bump, there are still many areas where ID.4 is less than the new competitors like Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Volkswagen plans to fill those gaps.

Volkswagen ID.4 :
For starters, this VW crossover comes with a choice of a dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain. Those who buy a car without this option can expect to get around 201 horsepower, which increases to 295 with the improved powertrain. The single-motor, rear-wheel version of this car is known as the Pro, while the more powerful trim is known as the Pro S.
The Pro S’s fuel economy comes at 104 MPGe CT and 89 MPGe highways. It offers an estimated range of 268 miles. Meanwhile, the rear-wheel-drive Pro model gets about 107 MPGe CT and 91 MPGe Highway and has a range of about 280 miles before charging.
VW ID.4 Price :
Cars has given Volkswagen ID.4 a top spot for electric cars in its 2022 “Top Picks” list of the best priced categories. ID.4 received this honor primarily because of its relatively affordable price, at least compared to other EVs on the market. The Pro starts at $ 42,425, while the Pro S comes with an MSRP of $ 46,925
Winners’ selection criteria include price, range, comfort and features, and more than 30 different make-and-model top picks were scrutinized.
The car and driver highlights many important features in the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4.
Cars described his choice of the VW ID.4 as the “best price” EV, saying the crossover “offers lots of electric cars for money.” Comparing the average price of a new EV to 60,000, it is clear that ID.4 is a bargain.
The cars also point to a wide range of standard features that come with the car, including LED headlights, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a 10-inch touchscreen navigation system. Volkswagen’s advanced technology that is standard with the car includes wireless device charging, a wide suite of driver-assist features, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
Of course, no vehicle is perfect, and the Volkswagen ID.4 is no exception. In its article, Cars did find at least one feature it noted as a drawback to the ID.4. That would be the cabin’s touch-sensitive controls, which the website declared “frustrating.”
Design :
The car and driver mentioned a few negatives when the ID arrived. 4 side by side. This makes the operation of the crossover seem relatively exciting, much like the exterior design of a car. This makes using the infotainment center more of a challenge than usual.
Then there’s the acceleration power of the rear-wheel-drive ID.4: the 7.6 seconds it takes to go from 0 to 60 mph lags behind many EV competitors. However, the advanced powertrain model can jump in just 5.4 seconds.
Above all, though, the pros and cons of the VW ID.4 outweigh the negatives, so it’s no surprise that Cars topped the list for the best value EV.
